About Me

I am a 39-year-old male from Canada who has been working on losing weight for a number of years.

When I got married 17 years ago, I weighed 190 pounds.  It wasn’t too long before I had ballooned up to 300 pounds with a 51 inch waist.

About 5 years ago my wife and I read Body 4 Life by Bill Phillips.  It inspired us and we started losing weight together.  I lost about 50 pounds and then I lost motivation.  I think I went back up to around 280 or so and then did it again.

I have gone up and down a couple of times since then.  Each time I go down, it is always to my lowest, and when I start gaining weight I never let it get as high as it was the previous time.  Not the ideal way to lose weight!

Last summer I was down to 225 pounds, my lowest ever since my initial weight gain.  I was feeling great!  Then things got very very busy and stressful with school (I am in a difficult program).  That was my excuse to exercise less and eat more junk.  I gained over 20 pounds and went up to 249.  As I write this, I sit at about 244 pounds and I am on my way down again.  This time I am determined not to let stress or the busy-ness of life get the better of me.

I am blogging about my experience first and foremost as a tool to keep myself motivated.  I have a very hectic life, a wife and 2 children, and I struggle to balance things at times.  It is easy to lose motivation to exercise when there are so many other things to do.  I also hope to help others who are struggling to be consistent because I think a lot of people can relate.

I hope you enjoy my blog and find it useful!
